20 March 2003 01:59 amFirst off,a half-assed apology to everyone who read the last post (particularly those who commented). LJ metaphor shear, if you will. I needed to write that stuff, or rant it at someone (which nearly happened) to work though it m'self, but probably shouldn't have done so on the www. This doesn't alter the content, the [pending?] discussion, or any of my problems (..) but I'm sorry you had to read about it. I should've posted the pseudocode snippits, and just let it be nonsense, leaving off the ramblings. And you still have my torch, old bean.
Further buggering: $God is pissed. If this goes on for 4 x 101 days and nights, don't be surprised, and deref that symbol however you like (old hebrew guy with beard, pregnant venus-figure, the Buddha nature of all things, the Tao, pissed off Greek deity with foul sense of humour, invisible pink elephants, whatever). Note:Er, at least in Atlanta we have had rain continuously all evening and night, varying from sprinkles all the way through torrential downpour, and back.
And now for some soundbites: I support the troops. Bush and Ashcroft (et al) should be impeached, Blair will lose a No-Confidence shortly anyway, and the Iraqi UN ambassador is correct in his assesment, but I support the troops. I know some of those people, and they don't need to be getting themselves hurt or killed over this foolishness (anymore than any Iraqis or Kurds do, mind you). Remember what Patton said, or the slogan on the Airborne recruitment poster.2
Please let me know if anyone issues a proclamation to Bush that if doesn't leave the country within 48 hours they will start killing civilians who voted for him (parallelism, a common literary device...)

2: General Patton is alleged to have said "I don't want to hear any of this nonsense about dying for your country. You men are here to live for your country and help the enemy die for his." The poster evokes a very simillar sentiment, and can be found in a FO post here May 2001 or so. Edit: Or not. I rather thought I posted it. The post hints at how I met some of the folk now in Afghanistan and Kuwait, though.
