Admin note on a ticket I was working (note, this guy is the president, my boss' boss):

...what's up with the note about "no wiki"? Not every customer has a wiki page, and in fact, only the larger customers have a wiki page.
Figure it out. search tickets. I already know what the problem just from searching tickets - either way, just fix it NOW and keep your sarcastic comments out of admin notes. There is no place for that at [corp]. Should you accidentally not select admin to admin and say something smart, that would not be good at all.
I called my boss and yelled at him some, apologetically. I reminded him he should get a better job. My response in email (cc'd my boss) is thus:
Helpful data point: the customers that have wiki pages have them for the most part because I wrote them or salvaged them. This customer has been here for three weeks and dozens of tickets.
After I had told the customer more useless things, my boss Jabbered in with a good clue and we got it fixed for now. I thanked him.
After the president guy called the office blustering and ordered me to meet with him Monday (four hours after my shift), (Even on the phone he was interrupting me when I was saying "don't you understand that that is how you made me feel?") I called my boss back and asked him if should work out the weekend ... he left it up to me. And in the meantime, president guy responded to my earlier mail, and that sealed it handily. Emails out of order, but read down for the "good stuff"

I'll work out the weekend and hand over my badge to you or William Monday
morning. Let me know if there are any other details we need to take care of before
then.
I resign effective immediately and will work out the rest of my week.

Sorry for lousy narrative structure
sent my tiny mail, hours pass, president-guy calls in,
I call my boss back to discuss, then read president-guy's
insulting email, and forward it to my boss with resignation.
Interestingly the screw-up that cause the customer to contact us was not mine, happened on day shift.

You almost certainly give up your unemployment benefits. And in reading the GA DOL, you have to do some pretty crazy stuff for them to be able to terminate you justifiably.
My recommendation would be to stay, and document, document, document so that you unemployment benefits (meager as they are) are secure.

I've been fired before, and never gotten/tried for the dole, although I have played with the DoL to try and find work.
In this case, he is apparently not intent on firing me but would like to again ramble and rant at me, four hours after I should be gone for the week, home and asleep. Having withstood** this before, twice, to no gain and having vowed never to do so again ... and been angry about it since ... no.
** I sat through it, tried to figure out from him what concrete things I could change, what solid evidence of poor decisions he might produce, (to naught) took it, and cried after. I've no interest in a reprise.

Aside from that, I have to say good on you for not putting up with ridiculous poor treatment. I am very very glad to be getting unemployment benefits right now, but I quit that job (they begged me back a few months later) once because of a coworker being a dipshit to me, and quit my previous job due to the management treating highly skilled technical workers like fast food employees. (Not that I think fast food workers should be treated poorly.)
Also I still didn't quite parse whether he sent his "I'm not going to fire you" message in response to or was responded to by your "I quit" message.
