FedEx Home Delivery is a lousy joke

Behold the note I left, and the door tag they stuck 6 inches from it. Note carefully the polite request to leave the package referenced and the signature. Glance at the checkbox for reason the package was not left: signature required.

Marvel that having confused their chatbot and reached a human named Marquesha I was told that "home delivery service" drivers do not make it back to station before it closes, and so they will reattempt delivery or I could come pick the parcel up tomorrow.

I am so annoyed I almost want to refuse it and make the vendor ship it back UPS or postal. Gah. At least they will either leave it on the stoop or let you come get it. The fact that the delivery location, my location, and FedEx are all well within 5 miles of each other is not making me less annoyed in any way.

I hate FedEx with a PASSION. I never, ever use FedEx unless I have no choice. I've actually not done business with companies because they only ship FedEx and there's a comparable company that does the same thing for relatively the same price. I'll even pay extra not to use FedEx.

They never deliver correctly here, they lie about attempted deliveries, they frequently leave boxes (if they manage to leave them at all) that are completely soaked through, EVEN ON SUNNY DAYS DURING A DROUGHT (whut?).

It has to do with how the sender fills out the airbill. If they do not check the "No signature required" box, then Fedex is obligated to obtain an electronic signature in their scanner-logger-machine-thingies; without the sender's release, the carrier is legally liable for the contents of the package.

I've gotten packages from UPS, FedEx and Dhl -- all of them left on my front door. One was in 3 inches of snow and if I had not looked out that day, it would have been snowplowed into the bushes. All of these folks can leave packages without signatures -- and they can stop at the main office of any central facility and leave it with them for you. Many are just too lazy to think outside the box and do a little customer service!
