I would hasten to add that black will look worse, operationally, than white.
Smudges, scratches, everything looks more dramatic on a reflective black surface. I have a black, shiny motorcycle that looked filthy and scratched the day they bounced it off the assembly line. Fleet vehicles, in contrast, like pickups and vans, are done up white because even though it seems counter-intuitive, they reveal abuse less (white undercoating helps, and visibility is a factor as well).
